Khi dữ liệu cá nhân không được thu thập và bảo mật đúng cách sẽ gây ra những thiệt hại cho chính cá nhân người bị thu thập dữ liệu, thậm chí trong một số trường hợp có thể ảnh hưởng đến an ninh quốc gia. Do đó, Việt Nam đã xây dựng những quy định liên quan đến dữ liệu cá nhân. Tuy nhiên, các quy định này còn rải rác ở các văn bản khác nhau, dẫn đến chưa được thống nhất. Bài viết này phân tích các quy định pháp luật Việt Nam liên quan đến dữ liệu cá nhân, đồng thời đối chiếu một vài vụ việc của một số quốc gia về vấn đề này, từ đó đề xuất các kiến nghị.
