Ngày 21 tháng 5 năm 2024, Tòa án quốc tế về Luật biển ban hành ý kiến tư vấn đối với yêu cầu được đệ trình bởi Ủy ban các quốc gia đảo nhỏ về Biến đổi khí hậu và luật quốc tế (Vụ việc số 31). Bài viết này nhằm tóm tắt và phân tích những điểm chính trong ý kiến tư vấn của Tòa liên quan đến nghĩa vụ của các quốc gia trong việc bảo vệ môi trường biển trước tác động của biến đổi khí hậu, từ đó bình luận về ý nghĩa của Ý kiến tư vấn này đối với tương lai của luật biển và vấn đề biến đổi khí hậu.
